Winter Weather A.R.E. Maintenance

With cold weather on its way with snow, ice and nasty roads there are a few things you should know to make sure your A.R.E. product is ready to handle the elements.

Helpful tips during the cold Fall and Winter Months:

  • ARE fiberglass truck caps and DCU’s are painted with Axalta “Chroma Premier” automotive high grade paint and clear coat finish that requires the same care as your trucks painted surface.

  • It is important to keep the product as clean as you can, weekly car washes are recommended especially during more dirty times of year like winter with several states that have chemical deicers on the road.

  • Do not dry wipe your cap down with a cloth, always use water, rinsing as much of the debris off prior to washing.

  • After 60 days a high quality wax is recommended for your A.R.E. product.

  • Use a little White Lithium grease in all lock cylinders. This will help prevent them from freezing up when it really gets cold and wet.

  • Do not use lubricant or solvent based cleaners on any gas struts, if they need to be cleaned use water only.

  • UV light is hard on all vinyl, plastic and rubber components, using products like 303 and ArmorAll plastic/Vinyl cleaner will extend the life and keep the luster of these components.

  • Overland & OTR units use 303 Aerospace Protectant this will extend the life of the surface from fading.
